About the Role
We are seeking Forest Rangers (A03) to join a Government department, supporting the Native Cypress Team. This is a vital role contributing to the sustainable management of forestry resources, helping to protect food security and environmental sustainability for Queenslanders and beyond. You will be part of maintaining both recreational and commercial forestry operations across the state.

This position will be based in Injune or Toowoomba (by negotiation). This full-time role is offered on a contract until 30 June 2026, with potential for further extension.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake tree selection and assessment, inspecting timber harvesting areas for site disturbance and compliance with environmental and safety standards.
  • Assist with preparation of sale proposals and Operational Plans for designated forest products.
  • Implement DPI Forestry practices, policies, and procedures for harvesting and marketing of forest products.
  • Support administration of the Forestry Act 1959 and other relevant legislation.
  • Maintain high standards of compliance in environmental, risk management, ethical conduct, and workplace health and safety.
  • Load/unload equipment up to 20kg and operate 4WDs, ATVs, and motorbikes in off-road conditions
  • Support monitoring and auditing of forest product operations.
  • Prepare safety equipment, conduct vehicle pre-start inspections, and maintain weekly itineraries.
  • Perform other duties as directed, within skills and capability levels.
About You
  • Full working rights in Australia.
  • Hold an Open Manual C Class Driver’s Licence (heavy vehicle and motorcycle licences highly regarded).
  • Willingness and ability to travel, camp, and work in challenging outdoor environments.
  • Strong interest in forestry, conservation, and sustainability.
  • Proficient or quick to learn GIS mapping tools (ArcGIS, Google Earth, etc.).
  • Comfortable operating communication devices (UHF, PLB, GPS, satellite phones).
Hours & Pay Rate
  • Ordinary hours: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • $49.40/hour (including casual loading)
