Are you passionate about the environment and outdoor fieldwork? Do you want to contribute to the sustainable management of Queensland's forests? Our client is seeking a Forest Ranger (AO3), located in Mundubbera or Maryborough, to help protect and manage the state's hardwood forestry resources across Queensland.

Contract Full-Time - Through to 30 June 2026
36.25 per week (Monday to Friday)
 
This role is particularly well suited to individuals with an agriculture, farming, or hands-on labour background, who enjoy physical outdoor work and working with machinery in rugged environments.
 
About the Role
As a Forest Ranger, you'll work on the ground to ensure compliance and sustainability across timber harvesting and forest product operations. This role combines environmental stewardship, stakeholder engagement, and field-based work in remote locations across Queensland.
 
Key Duties
  • Assess tree selection and harvesting sites for compliance with environmental and safety standards
  • Assist in the preparation of sale proposals and operational plans
  • Monitor and ensure permittee compliance with codes and regulations
  • Operate 4WDs, quad bikes, side-by-sides or motorcycles in rugged terrain
  • Conduct audits and risk assessments in forest operations
  • Liaise with industry stakeholders, landholders, and community groups
  • Travel regularly and camp in remote field sites as needed
Skills & Attributes
  • Self-starters who can work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically fit and capable of working in outdoor environments
  • Proficient (or willing to learn) in using ArcGIS, GPS, UHF radios, and other communication devices
  • Strong communicators who can engage with contractors, permittees, and the public
  • Environmentally and safety conscious
  • Comfortable with physical labour and remote bush settings
  • Physical demands include carrying up to 10kg during long walks and lifting 20kg of equipment
  • Fieldwork often involves remote, rugged locations and extended travel (excluding weekends)
Mandatory Requirements
  • C Class Driver's license (minimum)
  • Motorcycle license highly regarded
  • Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work rights
  • Ability to pass criminal history checks and disclose any conflicts of interest
